Sam...............

I was almost finished clipping back my Mexican Heather in the flower bed when.....whoosh!!! Sam, my neighbor's kitten, took a nose dive into the bush after my clippers.

After a little "play time", Sam left to go agravate Ginger, my dog. I really wish I could have gotten a picture of them. Ginger was inside the house at the dining room window going berserk while Sam was lying on the front porch right in front of the window. And I must say that Sam could have cared less for Ginger's behavior.

Isn't Sam just adorable!!! Gayle and I found Sam one morning during our walk.

What I miss.....

Thanks Tammy for taking a great picture...I do miss the snow in B'ville!!!

Great Weekend..................

After work this past Friday my sister-in-law and I traveled to Montgomery to the ASF Theater for “Bear Country”. Yes, I know some of you are wondering “Why?” For those of you who don’t understand…I’m a WAR EAGLE gal, and this play was about Coach Bear Bryant and his life. As we approached the stage entrance, I stopped, looked at Glo and said quietly, "Roll Tide". I took 2-3 steps, turned around and said, Can I yell "WAR EAGLE?" Needless to say, I didn't.

My sister-in-law and I spend several weekends a year in Montgomery for ASF's wonderful, entertaining, and spectacular shows. We also shop, eat out, and just have a whole lot of fun. For this trip we planned only to see the show and return home because…….

MY MOM AND DAD were coming for a long weekend visit. Yeah!!! Glo and I got back to Dothan around 11:30 Friday night. My parents were already here and sound asleep in the bed so I had to wait until Saturday morning to see them. After driving from Montgomery, I did sleep soundly.

As I woke up Saturday morning, I received lots of hugs and kisses from mom and dad. After we “loved”, dad and I cooked up a big breakfast of grits, eggs, sausage, and toast. Dad and I sat at the table eating and catching up a little on talk. It was just mom, dad and I on this day as Glenn was on his way to cheer the Auburn BB team against Bama and Garrett was attending a soccer clinic in Auburn.
Dad loves to keep up with Dothan's progress so we drove around looking at all the new places. You see, it has been over 15 months since mom and dad visited. I always try to keep them informed of the progress in Dothan just as they keep me informed of what’s happening in my “small hometown”. We had a lot of fun and especially on our way back to the house...........we stopped at a favorite…Dairy Queen...for a Blizzard…a Hawaiian and a Tropical. Yum,yum!!!

I can’t remember the last time that mom and dad joined us for church services. Not because they didn’t want to. They just always had to get back to SC because mom worked. She is finally, finally retired. (She’s retired 3, 4, I can't remember how many times...from the same attorney.) She loves not having to work now, and I do too because now she has NO EXCUSE when I ask them to visit. See Mom, your retirement (finally) is an advantage for me. Anyway, we attended services and had a truly blessed time. We had great news too from our Pastor Search Committee. They have extended an invitation to a pastor to come for a "Meet/Greet" and to deliver a sermon. I am so excited! Pray that this man of God is what God has in store for our church and that we (the congregation) will be receptive. (Our previous pastor ministered to us for a little over 30 years. He retired.)

Monday was such a lazy day for us. It was also cold outside. Glenn and Garrett went golfing. Mom, Dad, and I did make a trip to Shoe Station and found a pair of shoes for mom. We also went to Walmart to get a few grocery items. The rest of our day was spent relaxing, reading, talking, walking to the pond, and of course, eating.

I had a great time with my parents...as always. Mom--Dad.....I love you both so much. Dad, you cheshire cat, here's your picture. Mom...sorry, I know you aren't crazy about picture taking. You're both so much fun!!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!!

blackeyed peas and collard greens……………well, not quite. I did cook the peas for hubby. He’s got to have these on New Year’s Day along with a big ol’ slice of fresh onion. Never could develop a taste for either. Our tummies are full from lunch and we’ve settled in for an afternoon of “Football Mania”. Clemson is winning at the moment, and I know my brother is happy (Clemson Alumni).

I have spent my time reading the LPM Blog. Beth Moore had this great idea for 2009 – a scripture memorizing/meditating challenge. (Now you honestly didn’t think I wasn’t totally immersed in the football game, did you?) Anyway, I signed up for the challenge and have already been blessed reading the postings of scripture (already 1016 postings). If you’re interested in the challenge, go to
www.livingproofministries.blogspot.com.

For all of my family and friends I wish for you great joy and lots of happiness in 2009. I love you all.
