LOVE.....

A time of year when “love” really shines is Valentine’s Day. The four letter word “LOVE” is a powerful word. There are many definitions and only you decide how to share the meaning you’ve chosen. I use this space to celebrate the “love” I have for my husband. Let me start by sharing a little…..

Glenn and I met at college in ‘74. He was an athlete playing basketball, and I attended the games to socialize. Both of us shared friends; thus, we were usually in the same area together. Spending time together with our friends and later on as a date made me dream of what my life could be like within 3-5 years with someone like Glenn. I soon found myself wondering whether or not he was the “chosen mate” for me. All too soon, it was ‘76 and he was graduating. We did not have a commitment to each other and I thought my world was ending. I just didn’t know how to adjust to life knowing that he wouldn’t be at Lander the following year. (I graduated ’77.)

He began his work career mid-June in Dothan, and I was back at home trying to enjoy the summer before heading back to finish my degree requirements. We stayed in touch with one another. I was thrilled!!! He visited me in July, and this was the visit when we decided to commit to one another.

Several times during my senior year of college we spent time together either at Lander or in Dothan. (We actually broke up one time.) The most special time spent together was the trip I took to Dothan during Christmas ’76 holidays. At a New Year’s party we decided to share our lives together. We took a stroll in downtown Dothan and window-shopped at Ted’s and Saad’s on the day I was heading back to SC. He and I found the engagement ring and bands that we wanted. My heart was fluttering with the knowledge that I had found my life-mate. Ok…we became engaged February 5th and married July 30th.

We have been married 31 years, 198 days, and 10 hours. Thru the years together I have learned so much about the definition of commitment. Commitment to me is sacrifice, obedience, trusting, respectfulness, courtesy and much more. With a strong belief of commitment in marriage you can, together, create something wonderful and passionate. I believe we have been able to strengthen our marriage thru silent understanding (never needing to say what we already know), planned vacations (together and separately) and commitment.

I anxiously await the joys and challenges that are mine to come…the blessings of a wonderful marriage!

"Sitting on the Dock of the Bay....."

Several of us girls decided to head to Holiday Shores to spend the night at Gina's parents' lakehouse this past Friday night. We had a blast! I love having "girl trips" and this was the first one for our group. AND I don't believe that it will be our last. There's so much to say (and not say) about our trip but I will share a few pictures with you. Remember...girl trips are meant to be fun, girly, and bonding experiences among friends. Here is our group shot before we played..."Who Am I? or What Am I?"

From the last 3 Amigos..............Until next time!!!!!!
