A crisp, clean sheet...

A crisp, clean sheet under a warm blanket
lays atop as I close my eyes.
Music hovers
all around the room
sending me deeper and deeper
into oblivion.
Muscles and tendons are stretched
beyond their limits
to reach that point of
total relaxation.
Oh that I should slip into another realm
where white and black offer no gray.
Faith and trust are one in the same
and the light shines forth from over the way,
beckoning a stretch of everlasting silence
to which I spiral -
cascading as a waterfall
to a cool and refreshing pool
that awaits the soul for cleansing.

Easter Dessert (first time ever)

Tomorrow my husband's family will gather together after worship at his sister's home for an Easter lunch. My share of the lunch will include dessert. Feeling somewhat ready for a challenge (and this doesn't happen often in the cooking world for me), I decided to try my hand at a 15-layer chocolate cake.

I know many of my friends are laughing right at this moment...so go ahead...laugh! Most know that my cooking skills tend to lean to the "easy" dishes. You know...the four ingredients. There's always a freezer full of frozen meals. I do cook but the thought of "real" cooking was never in my plan of life. However, collecting recipes was.

After reading magazines containing recipes, I would find ones that looked easy to make, clip them out, and place them in a trusty container. I even spend time once a year organizing them again. A few years ago I really did an overhaul on my recipes and found a website online that would allow me to make a book using my no-fail recipes. I named the book appropriately..."Do I Dare Cook?"

Anyway...back to the Easter dessert. Let 's just look at a few pictures.

I always start with a sinkful of suds.

Did I dare...yes I did!

and I think I did Pretty Good!
