For two days we have not had any afternoon rain, and it was wonderful just to get out of the house and walk around the yard "piddling". Hubby is out now finishing up with the yard trimming.

This cute little gnome is sitting atop a frog. Dad always loved his gnomes out in his yard/woods. I have several flower beds, and each one contains yard art. In one of them are my frogs. When I found this a year ago, I had to have it.

I was sitting on the patio this afternoon relaxing after I had cleaned and replenished the bird feeders. All of a sudden my eye catches movement.

He was being so clever. Also thought that I'd go back in the house and leave him to sample some of the new food. Sorry...we had a "staring match" for some time.

Harvey Adoption Day

"Just like with Mylee and Brooklyn I woke up early,
got ready, took a picture and now headed
to bring home our baby.
Only difference is this baby Harvey
grew in my heart. God is faithful!!!!".....ABH

For what seemed like a lifetime for Johnny & Allison Harvey, our niece & her hubby, their adoption wait is over. A little girl, 2 weeks old, was ready and waiting for a family. They accepted and named her.

Monday, July 15th, Andrea (Allison's sister), Teri (Allison's Best Friend) and I (Allison's aunt) traveled to Macon, Georgia to celebrate the adoption and see the "prayed for" little blessing.

Andrea                                          Teri

We arrived at Covenant Care Services and met other family. Gloria & Mike and Vickie, grandparents, were there along with two of The Harvey's young friends. Mylee and Brooklyn, girls of Johnny & Allison were there too. Everyone was waiting patiently for all the paperwork to be done.

Johnny came soon and told the girls that it was time for them to meet their baby sister. They left with him & the rest of us continued to wait patiently.

Our time arrived to meet this precious little one. Allison wrote on her facebook timeline.....

"I would like to introduce Naomi Faith Harvey!"

 The Harvey Family

Sisters loving on Naomi

After meeting Naomi and taking "millions" of pictures, Covenant Care spokesperson spoke & read scripture. Then Johnny read scripture & prayed.

More picture taking moments & then Allison changed Naomi's clothes to her "baby sister" clothes to match her "big sisters" clothes.

We are leaving to go have a celebratory lunch. After lunch at Chili's, Andrea, Teri & I say our "goodbyes" and travel back to Dothan. A long day...but a very HAPPY DAY. Plans were already being discussed of future trips to Athens to see the Harvey Family.

"Mama & Naomi"

If Naomi only knew
what she was getting herself into............

...looks like she just found out!!!

Love you guys!!!

July Fourth Mini-Vacation

Back in Dothan and boy did we ever have the rain here. Our rain gauge was full. Papa says that since Wednesday he has had 9+ inches. Garrett kept a check on our house. Since we had our front yard regraded, the water just ponds out front. (Better than coming back into our house.) There is still a little bit of water out front at this moment.

Bville is still so far away. I think it’s got to be closer since I’m older because as a child I remember riding my bike to Gilmore’s store and thinking that I’d never get there. Now when I look at the house on Patterson and the distance to the spot where Gilmore’s was, I think “how close”. I’d love to go knock on our “old house” door & ask to view the inside. Lots of memories for me.

Mom was glad to finally see us. We were approximately 30 minutes later than expected due to a detour. Right in Bishopville where the Ford business was we met 3 sheriffs’s cars blocking the road. We had to turn left and continue driving. At this point, we were lost. So we pulled out our “Lucille”, and our GPS lady helped. Thankfully, she steered us thru back roads until we got to the stop light to turn left & then just a piece up to turn right to Bville.

Our Fourth was good…hamburgers & hot dogs and card playing. The night we arrived and this night as we were trying to sleep, we heard some fireworks.

On Friday Tammy, Gama & I went to Florence. Gama had been talking about going to Hamrick’s shopping. She had a good time and was very tired that night. Glenn & Steve went golfing.

First though…before we could leave town, Gama had a hair appointment with Ann @ 8 AM. That meant I needed to get up out of bed at 6:15/6:30AM to get ready so we could go by and pick up Tammy, and then on to the apt. Too early!

Bkft @ McD’s…Hamrick’s…Kohl’s…ChickFilA for milkshakes…Payless…Home. With just an hour or so, we rested a bit before we got back in the car to go to L’burg to eat supper. FATS met us there & then came back to Gama’s for some card playing.

Saturday mourning (hahaha---morning) arrived…WORK DAY. We cleaned Gama’s outside wood, porch & carport for the mildew. Not sure why it has returned so quickly but it did. We did a thorough cleaning back at Thanksgiving. It had come back pretty good.

Frank bought 2 long-handle scrub brushes for mom, and Tammy got the cleaning ingredients for her. Tammy, Frank, & Ann started on the porch area and Glenn and I started on the carport area. We finished the whole house and even pressure washed all of the drive concrete except the strip to the left of the kitchen window towards the carport.

I believe we all crashed Saturday nite at our homes. I know we did. Mom was really happy to see the mildew gone.

Glenn and I voted to have the house pretreated & painted with mildew resistant in the paint. Gama was going to talk to someone today about a price. Also spoke with James @ church yesterday to see who he would recommend.

Susan and David came over around lunch. They were catching up on things at their home. Their trip was good with Meemaw. Both hated to see each other leave. Praying that she will consider moving to Bville.

Sunday..Happy Birthday to Pa! Church @ Shiloh, sandwiches @ home. Reed, Steve & Glenn went to play golf. Susan and I went to Ollie’s. Just love that place. Love to browse. Love, love their book section.

Frank & Ann were @ mom’s when we returned from R’ham. Aunt Willie was there with a gift for Susan's BD. She stayed @ the house to visit as Frank & I went walking because he wanted to show a snake. When he & I got back to the house, I insisted that everyone go see it. Frank took them in his car as Susan and I walked there. From Gama’s picture book we surmised that it is a mud snake. It was 4’6” and approximately 1 ½ to 2” in diameter. Susan & I thought it looked as if it had eaten something cause it had a lump in its length. Anyway it was a pretty snake and a DEAD one at that. My favorite kind…DEAD. It had already begun to stink so Frank took it & threw it over into Kistler’s pond.

After a little more visit, Frank & Ann left. Susan & I went to her house to see her glass yard art in the shed. Saw Tammy’s and Christine’s as well. They were really nice looking. Her garden looked good too. Then we went back to Gama’s.

Ending the day as well as our visit. Packed & ready to put in the car.
