It's was a day early before the 76th AAHRA Convention at Sandestin, Florida. Our resort room in the main building was very cozy. We love coming to this resort.

Our sweet friends Wayne & Sandra East met up with us in the lobby, and we made plans for dinner at Captain Dave's on the Gulf. We enjoyed live music and catching up on family news. It was a wonderful evening.

We were definitely "getting the full 20%"...of rain Sunday morning. Kinda put a kink in our plans for a morning bike ride...so we changed to a short car ride to view the Links golf course.

With a slight lift of the rain we walked to Another Broken Egg where we dined on Bacquezo & Classic Biscuit & Gravy. Afterwards we took a walk around the resort. A short time of relaxing, then we went shopping and grabbed a quick bite to eat before returning to the resort.

Monday is Golf Day... Wayne and Glenn chair this event for the convention, and it was a sunny day. Their team tied for third place, and they lost in a tiebreaker.

Our meet & greet theme for Monday night's President Dinner was "Swing for the Fences". Executive Directors were given baseball shirts, and everyone received a cap to wear.

My favorite time of the convention is the Scholarship Luncheon. This year eleven scholarships were awarded. All scholarships are $2500.

This is the first year that Glenn has missed the luncheon. He, Wayne & Jeff went golfing.

The evening was spent with friends of AHARM and David Hyde of Travelers Insurance Company, the insurance provider for AHARM. Glenn serves on the AHARM Board. Our dinner at Bijoux was oh so delicious.

On the last day of the convention there is a banquet. Awards are presented at the end of the evening in various categories. One picture before we go to the banquet.

Glenn has always included his Section 8 Coordinator & Housing Manager in these trips to the convention.

Three of the DHA Commissioners have been attending the convention & workshops for a number of years.

Over a week ago I received a message from our sweet friends, Wayne & Sandra East, that Glenn would be presented the "Executive Director of the Year" award. I am very proud of my hubby and his hard work.

Glenn is the accountant for these authorities.

Surprise...this gentleman & his wife heard "Lander College"
and came over to speak to Glenn.
His brother Joe Cabri was @ Lander as tennis coach
when Glenn & I attended.

Retired ED's...Ronnie & Kathy Jones and Carolyn Sutley

This convention was bittersweet as we spent time with many, many friends in the public housing authority family of Alabama.

Our life will change in March of 2017 as Glenn retires after 40 years in public housing. He says he is ready. My prayer for him is that he will continue serving people and his community.

BOTH HANDS PROJECT DAY

Today was an awesome day! Loving volunteers serviced their time to help benefit an adoption journey and a widow.

We all met for a day of "clean-up, spruce-up & love-up" at the home of a sweet, sweet lady...Mrs. Clark. This day was also showing love & support for The Harts as they are on an adoption journey.

Just this past Tuesday night The Harts received "The Call". They had been MATCHED!!!

Their sweet little one is expected to arrive some time around October 19th.

Our day was full of love & support, lots of hard working volunteers & lots of fun and fellowship.

Not only is my eyesight going but seems like my memory is too!

About a month or so ago at different times I purchased the wall saying and the angel. I purchased the wall saying first. The angel I had seen earlier but did not buy. When I saw it later on, I knew it was right.

The wall saying "Love Is When You Look In Someone's Eyes And See Everything You Need" is how I feel about Glenn. The angel is holding a pillow that has two wedding bands on it. Her dress is inscribed with words from the Love Chapter in the Bible.

With our anniversary coming up in a few weeks I put the two aside and waited until the anniversary date.

Fast Forward to August 2.......

.......I found these two still hiding - 3 days after our anniversary.

Needless to say, they are now in their place &
we had a good little chuckle.
