EOY~Beach 2017

Calypso has been our home for almost a week now, and it has been a cold one. It is our favorite place to stay. On the 16th floor, we have breathtaking views every day. Our days have been beautiful with the exception of one day being a bit foggy & misty.

And...there are just no words for the sunrises and sunsets on the white sands.

Footballs games, snacks galore, home-cooked meals, restaurant visits, card playing...just doing exactly what we want to do...and having fun being together...a time for renewal of love, friendship, and respect.

We love watching & listening to the bands on New Year's Eve night over at Pier Park.

As the bands take a break for the annual children's "Beach Ball Drop" of 10,000 beach balls, we find our place to watch the fun. This year we were on the edge of the street with a clear view.

10 more minutes until they drop!!!

Glenn got a beach ball when everyone began popping them up in the air for others to play volley. He kept his and gave it to the young girl sitting on her daddy's shoulders right beside us. She was excited.

Back at the condo, some time later, we settled in to watch the TV New Year Eve's shows as we waited for the fireworks display off of the PCB Pier Park pier over the Gulf. PCB never fails to display a wonderful 15-20 minutes fireworks display.

...and another year has come to a close.

words do not come easy
when tragic pain stabs your heart.
tears flow and the mind struggles
to understand a life choice.

beauty beyond measure
and a heart of gold.

Happy Birthday to my dad. We had no ice cream or cake; streamers or noise makers. I just said "Happy Birthday, I love you!" and we hugged. We spent time together. He's 92.  ~~~Hubs

In 2002 Glenn and I attended his first Arthur J Gallagher insurance trip. We went to Orlando, Florida. As a housing authority director and voted upon insurance board member, we have attended these conferences and gained many wonderful friends over the years.

For the past 3 years Glenn has had a conflict with his insurance trip...his golfing trip to Destin. He loves his golf trip.

We were able to join our friends in Orlando, Florida for this year's insurance trip. His golf trip is next week. Glenn, having retired from the housing authority business, is now an employee of AJG. It was so much fun spending time with our friends.

After checking into our rooms, we met Wayne and Sandra at the river boat for a ride over to City Walk for some dinner. Universal Studios is across from City Walk.

While the guys were off playing golf Monday, Sandra and I visited City Walk again and explored some of the shops. For lunch we dined at Sal's Market Deli on Margherita pizza...so good! We then went to the resort's lobby and lounged in their so comfortable chairs for an hour or so of "catching up away from the guys"!!! It was then time to go and collect our registration packets.

Our Monday evening we met everyone for cocktails & dinner at BiCE Ristorante. The facility was ours for the night. As we mingled with our friends, we were serenaded from across the plaza by Musica Della Notte...a live opera on Harbar Piazza.

Spouses were treated on Tuesday to either Universal Studios or Disney Springs. I chose to visit Disney Springs. It was a fun afternoon spent with sweet friends, Sandra & Phyllis. Lots of walking, shopping & fellowship.

In Tuscan I & II we gathered together for cocktails & dinner. Another evening of fellowship with our good friends.

One of the best perks for attending a business trip with your hubby is relaxation whether it is a spa treatment, lounging by the pool or just reading a book in the comfortable lobby/room.

Hubby's Wednesday morning meetings ended early so they were able to head on out to the golf course. They were expected to arrive back to the hotel too late to board the bus for our evening dinner so us girls decided to go on and await their arrival. (They did make it back in time...barely.)

We boarded a bus for Loews Sapphire Falls for a buffet dinner. An open pavilion, Cayman Court, was where we would celebrate the evening together...Jamaican style.

So much fun!
Look out Austin, Texas....here we come!!!

Day After the Eclipse

The heavens declare The Glory of God;
the skies proclaim the works of His hands.

Eclipse Day.....
Glenn is in Destin, and I am in Dothan.

  ...very little sighting.

Cloud cover and then rain on our side of town.

12:21pm

1:26pm

1:55pm

...and then the rains came. Clouds moved in
and no eclipse was to be seen from home.
