My
hostess month is February, and I decided to have a little celebration like
Leslie did on “Parks and Recreation”. I planned a “Galentine’s Day” party on February 21, 21st.
In
February 2010 on the 16th episode of “Parks and Recreation” the character
Leslie hosted a Galentine’s Day party for her girlfriends. She wanted to celebrate
their friendship and the encouraging times shared. Galentine’s Day is observed on
the eve of Valentine’s Day.
So, I asked everyone to rewind back to
Thursday, February 13th as we began our celebration.
I spoke
of the origin of Galentine’s Day, our love & friendship and said a prayer
for us & our meal. Then we toasted our friendship with a flute of
Strawberry-Peach Lemonade.
We
feasted on croissants, turkey salad, pimento cheese, fruit salad, apple salad
& cheesecake. Most everyone brought they own drink (just like we always do)
but tea and water were available. Decorations of red and pink were in line with
Valentine’s Day.
After
our meal we divided into two teams and began a little bit of fun. We answered
some “Never have I ever…” statements. The laughter & fun had begun. We then
moved into a game of charades, and neither team could keep from making sounds…so
funny!!!
For
the next minutes we sat around and answered statements or questions such as…”Name
3 things you would want to have on an island if stranded.” or “What superpower
would you want to have?”. Each person would answer and then have an opportunity
to have someone else answer the same. It was so interesting to hear the responses.
The
last activity that I had for us was “Taste & Describe”. The two people from
their teams were blindfolded and had to taste & describe each of the 6
items one at a time. Lots of fun!!!
For
the remainder of our time together, we chatted. We journey our lives in different
ways, and that is what makes us such a unique sisterhood. I know that we will always
have love and encouragement for one another for we are…
