In August 2020 I donated several items to the Lander University Archives in memory of my grandmother Fannie Belle Little Jones. She attended Lander College (University) from 1909-1912. I attended Lander College (University) from 1973-1977.

I mailed the following to Lander University to be added to the Fannie Belle Little Jones collection. She had prepared a leaf booklet for one of her classes. The book was presented in April 1910.

It's 6:40AM, and we are beginning our travel back home. Our visit with my mom was nice. She is doing good.

Our days began with a morning walk around the land. The first day was like a new adventure since it had been so long since we had visited. We were talking and checking out our surroundings. Even though not much had changed around the house and land, we were looking at everything.

Dad loved the land. He piddled around the land every day. He had beavers in the creeks and broke up many dams to keep the water flowing. Traps were set to catch beavers too. He helped Garrett one year prepare a report on beavers. Dad even schooled Garrett on a beaver skull where the two main teeth would pull out. They were the longest teeth. Garrett was so proud of the report they worked on.

At the edge of Kistler's Pond with dad's creek, the beavers had built themselves a nice dam. Frank began observing last Spring 2020. He sent me this picture December 2020.

We drove around Bville on Friday, and I would point out several areas of town and share memories with Glenn. When I was growing up, my hometown was so large. It's amazing now that I am older how really small the town was.

I cooked white peas & butterbeans, made tea & a string pie, and baked a pound cake Wednesday before we arrived in SC. I did this so I would not spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I had a cooler of other foods and a picnic basket of pantry items. Glenn and I always take our own snacks and drinks so we didn't need to do any grocery shopping. We feasted Friday night on fried breakfast pork chops, white peas, butterbeans, potato salad, deviled eggs & lacy cornbread. Saturday was spent with FATS, and we lunched on the string pie. A breakfast brunch of grits, bacon, eggs & toast was enjoyed Sunday morning before phone worship. #poundsputon

Glenn watched some March Madness, mom listened to her audio book and I read paperback 2 books during our visit. We also played cards and did sit on the side porch a couple of times talking.

Before you even get settled down a bit.....it's time to pack and head back home.

We are traveling for the first time since March 13, 2020. This was the date that a National & State Emergency was issued for Covid-19 Pandemic. Our life for a little over a year has been one of precaution & protection against this virus.

Our journey destination is Bville. It has been 13 months since I have seen my mother & brother/SIL. For Glenn it has been 16 months. We will visit for the weekend.

A little journey thru the backyard

In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts
here and there. To the flowers I whisper
the secrets I keep and the hopes I breathe.
I know they are there
to eavesdrop for the angels.

It has been a year since
our then President Trump & State Governor Kay Ivey
declared a national emergency.

Gracious Father, I thank You
for the work I have.
You made work, and
it is part of every man and women’s life.
May I do my work,
whether in the home or beyond its walls,
in a way that is pleasing to You and
that reflects Your glory.

Amen.

I love to work in the yard. It is hard work but the joy I receive when I view the finished project lifts my soul in gratefulness to the strength & stamina the Lord provides.

This morning Glenn & I drove over to Lowes to purchase mulch, potting mix, weed killer & a few potting plants. With Spring approaching I wanted to get started on some of the projects outside.

Over at F2's house I enjoy working in their flowerbeds. They both work full-time jobs, and I love helping out when & where needed. Today I did a little weeding and replenishing the mulch.

At our home I finished the major cutting of winter and the last crepe myrtle tree.

Now it's an evening of rest and reflection on having such a beautiful day to work in God's Gardens.
