 MAN SHOES

It's just so funny to me. They are her favorite. They flip & they flop. They are worn. "Bring my favorite."

We gathered after the fall. One hospital to another...unit to floor. Approved for rehab, room secured but days of waiting...for a sign-off signature/initials, extra office holiday days celebrated & then to find out that two test sections were still required. McLeod!!! Frustration.

And...the early packed bag still waits for the call...

                                       ...along with the man shoes.

December 1st is the gateway to twinkling lights on a green tree. You’ve just spent a few days in family thanks and a few days remembering how you became this grateful person.

Jesus.

As you turn the next calendar page to December and check the already inserted written tasks for certain days, you quickly glance at the date of December 25th. You smile & mark off several days.

Jesus.

A few festive decorations adorn the home as well as the green tree. It now twinkles. Cinnamon pumpkin scent fills the home air. Take a moment.

Jesus.

Plans made for a Christmas home going. It’s the year. Think it will be goodies this year of chocolate, pretzels, nuts, wafers, chocolate…and more chocolate. Walks in the woods, memories of days past, and a longing for HOME.

Jesus.

The 25th of December…Christmas…Celebration of Your birth…our Savior.

Jesus.

The sky...

...is the part of creation in which nature has done more for the sake of pleasing man....there is not a moment of any day of our lives, when nature is not producing scene after scene, picture after picture, glory after glory, and working stillupon such exquisite and constant principles of the most perfect beauty, that it is quite certain it is all done for us, and intended for our perpetual pleasure.

A quick shower for hubs, his change of clothes & our online flight check-in, and we were ready to go. You know life isn't that easy when you have a short time frame. (Our online try for flight check-in failed.)

We left the house and began our AHARM trip. It has been three years since we have met as a group. Covid cancelled our 2020 & 2021 trips.

Our Tallahassee road trip was smooth and trouble free. Found our hotel (not where hubs thought it would be), checked in, got something to eat & went to sleep (8PM or so)...because 3:45 AM would come early.

***********

Awake and ready to begin the day. Carie & Laura were also at the hotel traveling to the conference as well. Our departure to ATL was on time, and the flight was smooth.

~ cloud shadows ~

After arriving in ATL and grabbing a bite to eat, we settled down for a two hour layover. AHARM friends met us for the second leg of our flight to San Antonio, Texas. Notice who our server was at Chick Fil A.

Another smooth flight and a quick baggage pickup as we headed to our Texas Airport Shuttle driver...Monique. She had a wonderful personality and was so much fun. (We put in a request for her for Thursday's pickup as we would head back home.)

Hotel Contessa was located on Riverwalk.
Our room overlooked the river.

The previous two pictures show the "Heart Shaped Marriage Island" on the Riverwalk. We had a perfect view from our room window.

This heart shaped islet is host to approximately 225 weddings per year. River Guides claim that it brings good luck to marriages.

After settling into our room, we met our friends in the bar area and had a lite lunch (2:45PM). Feeling full and tired, we decided to meet again at 6PM for a stroll to look for ice cream...our dinner. We found Kilwin's after our search for Mr. Ice Cream store was closed. Kilwin's... YUM! YUM! Our evening was wonderful with good friends, chocolate & ice cream.

Glenn & I spent Tuesday morning walking the Riverwalk. We ate lunch at MadDogs British Pub. The food was delicious.
~ Longhorn Steak & Ale Pie ~
~ The Italian Job Flatbread ~

Registration began at 2PM.
Yummy scones and drinks were provided.

Tuesday evening we gathered on the Riverside Terrace for a reception before moving to the Cypress Room for dinner. As we found our seats and greeted our table mates, Philip Rutledge welcomed us. He spoke of one who had recently passed away...Floyd. He and his wife Sheila were "our conference family". We have wonderful memories.

***********

On Wednesday morning the spouses/guests of conference attendees met for brunch. After brunch we gathered at a succulent station on the terrace where we learned about succulents. We planted our chosen succulent in a container we selected. The box shown housed our plant as we traveled back to our home.

After this short interest we took our plants back to our rooms and met back in the lobby for another adventure on a Riverwalk Cruise boat. The river narration guide provided a lot of San Antonio tales . It was a great river ride!

When the cruise ride was over, three of us had a craving for some ice cream. We headed to Wilkin's for our lunch. Never can go wrong with ice cream in a waffle cone. I also purchased some more chocolate pretzel rods and a Tonga. YUM! We walked back to the hotel and took off a few of the pounds we just put on. (hee-hee-hee)

Breakfast the next morning, Glenn had a quick meeting & I went back to the room to pack. Monique was expected at 11AM to drive us to the airport.

After the two flights, we began our drive back to Dothan
having had a great time with special friends.
